In honor of 20 years of the Japanese American Historical Plaza, Oregon Nikkei Endowment will hold its annual banquet at Multnomah Athletic Club with keynote speaker Irene Hirano Inouye, who is the founding CEO of the Japanese American National Museum, president of the U.S.-Japan Council and wife of Senator Daniel Inouye. This year’s banquet honorees include the original board of directors of Oregon Nikkei Endowment, Eleanor Davis, and Harold Onishi.

Midday Art and Cart at the Portland Art Museum

Visit the Portland Art Museum’s outdoor sculpture mall at lunchtime on the second Wednesday of each month this summer for outdoor food, tours, and talks. Scheduled to coincide with the Wednesday farmer’s market on the Park Blocks, Midday Art and Cart will feature nearby food carts and special presentations on architecture and outdoor sculpture. Talks are free and begin at 12:30 p.m..

June 9—Museum educator Stephanie Parrish will lead visitors on a tour of artwork from the 1930s by women artists.

July 14—Bruce Guenther, chief curator, will talk about select outdoor sculpture in the Museum’s collection.

August 11—Portland-based freelance journalist Brian Libby will speak on the Museum’s renowned building, designed by the early Modernist Pietro Belluschi.
